Professor Vivien Jones

As Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Student Education, Viv Jones has responsibility for the academic and co-curricular experience of all taught students. Working closely with colleagues in schools, faculties and services, and with Leeds University Union, she is concerned to ensure that the University's research excellence translates into learning opportunities for students, and that students are fully supported in making the most of their Leeds experience. She shares the leadership of the Leeds Student Education Service with senior team colleagues Roger Gair and Martin Holmes, and has particular responsibility for the Student Opportunity Directorate. The Library and the Lifelong Learning Centre also report to Professor Jones.

Viv is also Professor of Eighteenth Century Gender and Culture in the School of English with particular research interests in the work of Henry James and in issues of gender and writing in the eighteenth century.
